Thanks to more than 50 people who have generously donated over the last 6 weeks, today I was able to give the best Christmas present I've ever given. After much negotiations I managed to get the price down on the mini van and I told the kids this morning that they now own a van! I can't thank you all enough for your generosity and support. Merry Christmas from me and all the kids at Blessed Bright Future Orphanage xx

PS. Stay tuned for the next project. It's going to be even bigger and better! So if you still want to donate, never fear the money certainly won't go to waste :)

Good news! I sat down with the owner of the mini van we want to buy and he's said he will keep it for us until the end of the year. I'd love to give the kids the min can for Christmas, how amazing would that be?!! I know this time of year is tight with money, but if you can spare some please donate what you can. Thanks again to all those that have kindly donated already x

I've been here less than two weeks and already I have been deeply affected by the beautiful children here. These kids have so little and need so much, it's hard to know where to start!

There is a long term plan but the most immediate thing on the list is a trotro (mini van). Currently the children, some as young as 3, walk 2-3kms to school and back each day in the heat. We also have a girl called Charity who is disabled and cannot walk the distance, consequently, a few of the 12 year old boys take turns in carrying her on their backs.

If we had this vehicle it would mean that instead of walking an hour to get to school the children would be driven and could conserve their energy. Additionally, the children would have time to eat breakfast before school as currently they often go without. On the days that the children do get breakfast they are repeatedly caned for being late for school.

A further concern is transportation to a hospital or clinic if there is an emergency as we are over 2 hours distance from a medical facility. This is of paramount importance as within little over a week at least 3 out of the 50 children have been very sick.

I could go on and on.

But the point is, I can tell you first hand that this vehicle would make a huge difference to these children's lives. We have found one we would like to buy but we would need the money in the next 3 weeks. I would love to raise enough money to fund this....more would be even better the proceeds going towards the construction of a new orphanage building and school.

This is where you come in :)

If you would like to help me change these children's lives I'd be most grateful. Give as much or a little as you can and please share this page so others can help! To kick start this project my wonderful mum and sister have given me $350, I'm also going to chip in $500 of my own money. Updates will follow.

Thank you so much x
