Dear friends and family,
As many of you know, about 8 years ago, I spent time living in Guayaquil, Ecuador. I taught English and volunteered at camps for children with disabilities with Cristo Vive International. During my time there I lived with an amazing family. They welcomed me into their home and loved as their own daughter. They are my second parents. I wouldn't be the person I am today without them. Unfortunately, I have not been able to return for a visit in the years since I've left.
Here is the immediate family: Brenda, Eunice, Josué, Jose (Pepe), and Ivette.
I recently found out that Eunice, the woman who've I have grown to call Mamá, has been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. While she knows I am with her with prayers and in spirit, it would mean the world if I were able to visit her. Unfortunately, my financial situation is really tight and I am unable to fund all of the travel expenses.
Here is where you come in. I need to raise $2500 to be able to go. Ideally, I would like to visit sometime in January. (Let's face it, I am afraid of the giant crickets that swarm the city in December!) $2500 covers the cost of the flight, food, and travel within the country. Anything beyond what I need will be given as a gift to the family, to help cover Eunice's medical expenses.
Thank you for reading. I hope to post more pictures and videos soon.
Here is Eunice with her mom and sisters. They are all amazing!
Pictured: Silvia, Abuelita (Grandma) Silvia, Eunice, Carola, and Tia Zoila (who has recently gone into remission from a different form of breast cancer. I could talk for hours about how awesome she is!)
