SWAN LAKE by Ballet Theatre of Maryland

We have been given the opportunity to perform in Baltimore at the Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric for the first time this spring. This is a huge opportunity for a small company like Ballet Theatre of Maryland. This will give us a chance to grow our company by leaps and bounds. There are significant risks, however, to undertaking this. We ask for your support to alleviate the costs of this production and make our dreams a reality.
A little about our Company
Ballet Theatre of Maryland, Maryland's only fully professional company, is located in Annapolis, MD. We are a company made up of dancers with many talents, but we all have one thing in common: Our love and passion for dance.
Our Artistic Director and her husband are key supporters of our organization, both professionally and financially. Only 13 of about 40 dancers are paid a weekly salary and most are unable to live off their wages (requiring second jobs). In addition, all Company members, Apprentices and Trainees also take time to act as the set designers, builders, stage crew, wardrobe mistress, ballet mistress, school director, and more. We all do this year after year in order to live our dreams.
Our Potential
We are a company that thrives on our passion and the emotion we add to our performing. Our hope is to be able to share that passion with other young artists all over the state of Maryland, and some day beyond.
The money you are donating will be going towards the following expenses to help us break even with this performance.
$12,000 sets, drops and other props
$5,000 costumes
$3,000 marketing, potential salaries and miscellaneous expenses
