The "Bear" Fund

on monday october 14th 2013, shannon "bear" cothran was fired from his position as a cashier at the main st. shell station in nashua, nh 03060 for choosing to draw his legally owned and legally concealed firearm in defense of his life when a man came into his store at approx 3am that morning demanding money and threatening his life with a knife drawn. after 10 years of dedicated service to this company bear was fired for this violation of company policy, instead of allowing the robber to do what he intended regardless of his own safety. here are some links to local news coverage for more information: http://nashua.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/clerk-im-no-hero-i-just-wanted-to-go-home-to-my-family http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/news/1018674-469/nashua-gas-station-clerk-halts-robbery-with.html it's my goal to raise some money to help aid this man and his family overcome the unforeseen complications of his sudden loss of employment (ie. rent, bills, upcoming holidays, etc...) and help buy some time for them as he searches for new employment.
