Lompoc Valley P.A.L. is a youth crime prevention program that relies on educational, athletic, and other recreational activities to cement a bond between law enforcement officers and the youth. The Lompoc Police Department works side-by-side with young people who need their guidance. Lompoc Valley P.A.L. started in 1998 and has reached thousands of youth in the Lompoc Valley.
The existence of a 15-year-old youth crime prevention program intended to partner law enforcement officals is now hanging on by a thread. Due to budget cuts PAL may not be around much longer.
One of PAL's most popular attractions was a rock climing wall that
officers took to community events. Kids could climb the wall for free. It 's now in storage becasue the organization no longer can afford to use the rock wall due to insuranceand maintence cost.Such
expensives are too expensive for PAL.
One of the only continuing programs Junior Giants, allow youth to play baseball with off duty police officers and volunteerscoaching them. At the end of program the kids attend a San Francisco baseball
game.Though many of the kids attended game last year,PAL could not afford to take them this past summer.
PAL is seeking $25,000 in funds to save and maintain all its programs. This is a reasonable goal due to the many cost and maintence for this program.
Below is a few of the programs we hope to bring back.
