Breaking the Silence in Mugeza

Visiting the Mugeza School for the Deaf Children & noticing the lack of availability of hearing aids inspired us to explore possible options to help too!

"Breaking the Silence in Mugeza" is a project inspired following our visit to Bukoba, Tanzania during summer 2012. We came across the Mugeza primary school for hard-of-hearing children, in which there are currently over 100 children in need of hearing aids. Despite their daily challenges with very minimal resources, the children were always smiling and making the best of what little they have. Their positive spirits motivated us to do what we can to help give them the gift of hearing. We partnered with Ottawa-based audiologists to help us obtain hearing aids, which we will deliver ourselves during summer 2014 when we travel back to the school in Tanzania. We encourage everyone to be a part of this amazing cause and to work together to provide these deserving children with the gift of hearing. Donations are needed, please contact [email redacted] if you're interested in getting involved or have any other questions about the project. You can also visit us on facebook, https://www.facebook.com/BreakingtheSilenceinMugeza/
