Feral Cat Ariel - Vet Visit

Donation protected
For several years we've been caring for feral cats in our neighborhood. What began with one colony then became 2 and many babies (all are now fixed). I guess the word got out that we are where the food is, so we became a cat magnet :)

Our backyard has become a cat haven. Between us and a neighbor we take care of all food and a safe place for them to live. They've become a part of our family, and although several are nervous around people they will allow you to sit with them as they eat and a couple will allow you to hold and pet them. We're working on taming them more.

Recently we got the 2nd colony fixed and managed to raise donations for that, which were very much appreciated. Thank you to all who helped!

Just the other day I noticed that Ariel has a very deep cut along the curve of her left hip. She walks on the leg ok, so it's not broken, but the cut is quite deep and clearly needs stitches and she looks to be in a bit of pain.

We have both an owl and hawk in the neighborhood. I hear the owl shreak each night, so it could be she was injured trying to escape this owl. She's quite petite so was lucky to survive.

We're taking her to the vet this coming week for a checkup and stitches. While we're there I'm hoping to also get her micro-chipped so that if she's ever picked up by anyone she'll be returned to us.

We would appreciate any help towards this cost. We already spend a lot each month to take care of over 20 ferals, to keep them healthy and well fed. A previous vet visit cost us over $500 for one cat.

We love these cats as our own and their health is important to us. If you could contribute anything, as little as $10, it would be a big help. Lots of $10 contributions soon add up :)

I will update with more details and pictures soon, so you can see how she's doing. Here's one I took tonight. She was so nervous she curled up in the litter box. If you look closely you'll see the deep wound. It's no longer bleeding but when she walks the skin stretches and causes her pain, so I think she'll need dissolvable stitches and may be resting in our garage for a few days. I'm glad she's being forced to rest it. She's an active kitty and yesterday was more concerned about getting out to hunt.
