Common Grounds Storefront Project

Charlotte has been a great home to me and I've had the opportunity to be involved in many Charlotte area non-profits and charity events over the past 8 years. One cause I am very passionate about is ending chronic homelessness and have been on the board of the non-profit Common Grounds for the past 3 years. Common Grounds is a social entrepreneur type non-profit that started as a seasonal, pop-up farm stand where the proceeds from the farm stand go to help end chronic homelessness in Charlotte. We don't claim to have the answers to solving chronic homelessness but know we can raise community awareness and money to support other organizations so that is what we've done. In our 4 year existence, the Common Grounds farm stand has raised over $178,000, which we have gifted to Urban Ministry Center to advance their efforts. Pretty staggering to think fruits and vegetables can have such an impact!

As a new phase in the social entrepreneur ventures of Common Grounds, we are exploring a permanent store front to function as cafe/retail space, commercial kitchen space and event space with proceeds to benefit the same effort as the farm stand... ending chronic homelessness in Charlotte. A new job is taking me away from Charlotte and while I cannot be in Charlotte to see this vision complete, I'd like to ask you to join me in making a small financial contribution to help see this vision become a reality. Imagine a space where Common Grounds products could be sold year round, where chefs and cooks could use commercial kitchen space and create products that could support the Common Grounds mission. Common Grounds already owns the necessary commercial kitchen equipment and are close to a finalized lease so many of the pieces are coming together.

I'd love to raise $5000.00 before I leave Charlotte on September 29th with every single dollar going to support this new aspect of Common Grounds.
