We are fundraising for our registration as a charity. Taking this next step will enable us to reach a wider audience.
ABOUT LIVING WORDS:
Living Words is an arts and literature programme that uses the spoken and written word to help people feel present in their lives, regardless of circumstance.
Working with people with dementia and isolated and disempowered people, Living Words supports free speech and expression. The work enables individuals to feel heard and understood, even when communication seems lost.
There are three strands to Living Words:
1.Working with individuals who have dementia "“ creating poetry, personalised word books and anthologies.
2.Working with staff in care homes / hospitals and family carers "“ improving wellbeing through creative expression and reflection; individually tailored approaches aiming to empower creative communication.
3.Working in the arts and wider media to challenge perceptions of dementia, to increase understanding and awareness and to promote integration.
Living Words has been working in art centres, care homes, nursing homes, day centres, libraries, hospitals and theatres since 2007.
The work of Living Words in care settings is the inspiration for our wider programme of publications, performance and literature events.

We can't wait to be a charity and to be getting our message and work to a much wider audience. Last week I received an email from a carer I worked with earlier in the year, it contained these words: 'I do hope Living Words keeps growing and growing and taking over the world as it is a wonderful concept...The results were phenomenal and have made a massive difference not only to the residents who were involved but also the carers perception of them.'
