Julian's Eagle Scout Project

Hello Community,

My name is Julian Wright and I am a member of Boy Scout Troop 106 in Decatur, GA. I am currently a Life Scout and I have been working toward attaining the elite rank of Eagle Scout for many years.

The time has come for me to complete my Eagle Scout Project and I have chosen to build 20 Burial Flag Cases for local needy Veteran families. I learned many needy families are unable to afford the purchase of Burial Flag Cases (which range in cost from $129-$220) to honor their loved one's service to our country. By building and donating Burial Flag Cases to the Veterans Administration (VA), these families in our community will be able to properly display the cherished Burial Flag dedicated to their loved one.


All cases will be distributed to local families serviced by the Veteran's Administration in Atlanta.


TOTAL VALUE OF CASES: Approximately $3000.00

Part of my project includes fundraising for the materials to build the burial flag cases. I am also responsible for research, project planning, budgeting and volunteer coordinating.

I need to raise $980.00 to purchase the tools and construction materials by October 9, 2013. My project will take place October 11^th and 12^th.

Volunteers' (scouts and leaders) in my troop will be instructed on how to properly construct and finish these cases by a volunteer licensed contractor and will take place over a 2 day period. The scouts must be at the rank of Life or Eagle to participate in this project. This process is considered the Rites of Passage for a Boy Scout and by becoming an Eagle Scout I will join an elite group of men in America that have completed this rewarding leadership curriculum.
