SUPPORT THE REDCAR CUBS

THE Redcar Cubs are a junior speedway team that races at South Tees Motorsport Park in South Bank near Middlesbrough between March & October.   They are currently members of the Northern Junior League which they have won twice.   They originally started off in 2006 racing in the then Conference Shield as the Cleveland Bays.   They then spent two years racing in the Conference League (now National League) and the team changed their name to the Redcar Cubs in 2008 when they reached the semi-final play-offs and only a broken chain in the last race of the night stopped them from going through to the final.  A new promotion took over at Redcar in 2009 and the first decision they made was to disband the Redcar Cubs.  Former riders Jamie Swales & Kevin Keay resurrected the team albeit racing in a regional junior league over five heats.   Work commitments have taken Jamie away from the sport but Kevin Keay is still involved and asked former Middlesbrough Bears/Cleveland Bays/Redcar Cubs administrator Steve Harland if he would help attract financial support to keep the Cubs in business.   The Cubs have been invited to race against founder members of the National League Buxton in April in their first seven-man 15-heat meeting since 2008.   The meeting takes on extra significance because former Bays/Cubs team manager Jason Pipe has just been offered the role of team manager.  We have already received some wonderful financial backing from The Cleveland Hotel, Redcar; Big Figure Promotions & Coastal Carpets of Marske; Crofton Court Motorcycles & Hartburn Garage of Stockton on Tees, GPS Painting & Decorating of Billingham; North East Windscreens of Grangetown; W.H.Watts (The Pram Shop) of Middlesbrough & Yarm DIY but more is always welcomed.   You can donate as little or as much as want knowing you are helping support the speedway stars of the future.
