Help Build Camp Grom

I had the priviledge of meeting a most wonderful family while in Virginia Beach.  Joy Thompson and her husband, Josh, have a very charmed life.  A beautiful home on an inlet, two healthy boys, access to a glamorous life of travel and adventure.  However, 10 years ago, not long after Joy and Josh were  married, Josh was diagnosed with ALS.  He was an active young man, played football and surfed all over the world.  He even travelled to Hawaii and surfed the North Shore.  He was charismatic, a charming southern gentleman, that liked to joke around with friends and watch football on the weekends.

ALS has taken much from him and his beautiful wife.  He is not able to enjoy the simple pleasures we all take for granted; but they are fighters.  His parents, along with Joy, are using all the available resources to keep him comfortable and his life as normal as possible.  And, because of the communities continued outpouring of love after Josh's diagnosis, Bruce Thompson, a local developer and Josh's father, has given back.  They have given back in big ways.  Bruce and the family helped grow the local annual ALS walk of just 100 walkers to over 5000, raising over $17,000,000 since 2008.  This money has been used, not only to support research, but also build a beach park for disabled children and their families.  Last year, they used a portion of the proceeds to build a Grombulance designed specifically for children with limitations (I have been told the inside looks like an aquarium).

Now, their most ambitious project is almost complete and I want to help (with your help too). JT's Camp Grom.  "JT's Camp Grom can become a sanctuary, a gathering place, a world of support and learning and rehabilitation unlike no other in this area. For our wounded war heroes, for the families of fallen warriors, for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities, this camp would be a first-ever destination of compassion and support."  The community has raised over $12,000,000 for this project and needs $2,988,000 more to complete, with an open date in 2016.  Bruce Thompson, along with so many generous people and local firms are committed to making this happen.

So we need to do a virtual walk.  I won't be in VB for the event but I can help raise more capital in California, from my laptop, with the help of my family and friends.  There is no obligation; I know there are so many great causes that move us into action, this just happens to inspire me.  If it inspires you too, then any donation will be helpful.  Thank you for your time.

Much love and appreciation,

 Camille
