Wound and Ostomy Care Nepal
I am Ms. Saraswati Bhandari, a registered nurse from Nepal. I have completed bachelor of nursing in 2010. I got training on wound and ostomy care from Japan in 2008 for three months through JICA. When I completed the training, I realized that even a simple technique can make a huge
difference in human's life. I remembered the problems faced by our
ostomates in Nepal and my eyes were busted into tears when the President of JICA asked me
about the effectiveness of training. Then, I returned to Nepal with strong
desire of involving on ostomy care throughout my whole life.
Most ostomates are using plastic bags and wrapping cloths
round the waist to hold stool. Similarly, children are leaving schools due to
lack of ostomy appliances and fear of odor coming from stool from stoma. There
are no provision of pre operative counseling, stoma marking and information on
life styles after ostomy surgery to the ostomates in Nepal. I asked to donate ostomy care appliances from foreign charity
organizations and distributing to ostomates after assessing their stoma and
selecting the best appliances.
I thought that it is good idea to establish wound and
ostomy clinic and provide the care from there as well as from hospitals and home. Therefore, we want to establish wound and ostomy clinic at kathamndu.Your money will be invested to equip the clinic and to buy the wound care products and some paediatric ostomy supplies. Also, some of money will go to pay for the staff who will help operate the services through clinic, hospital and home. You can help us by donating money. Your each dollor can make a
great difference in the ostomates and patient's life . Simultaneously, your help
will be the cornerstone to establish a professional wound and ostomy care in
Nepal.
