Anti Poaching Awareness Ride

For many years I have been visiting South Africa touring on motorcycles and training as a bush guide. For those who have been you will understand what I mean when I say it gets under you skin and in your heart. Poaching in general has been a big problem for a long time but never before has it reached its current state. Recent figures released showed that rhino are being killed at a rate of one every 9.3/4hrs. Even the most simply minded person must realise that as a species they cannot survive that kind of slaughter. My aim is simple. I want to raise money to help fund anti poaching patrols in South Africa. I am already connected to one of the best man trackers in Southern Africa Colin Patrick
who is currently assisting Kruger National Park with training their Rangers in Anti Poaching methods.




How do I intend to raise the funds?? I will be in South Africa during November/December of 2013 and it is my intention to ride from Cape Town up the West Coast of South Africa into Namibia. From there I will visit a number of National Parks and private reserves that have poaching problems and on to the border of Angola where I will head east along the Caprivi Strip crossing into Botswana and then to Victoria Falls. Leaving Vic Falls I will make my way to the town of Kariba in Zimbabwe where the trip will head south to Harare and onto Bulawayo. Still heading south I will ride to the town of Hoedspruit which is a major hub from people travelling into Kruger National Park. I will spend some time with the guys who are actively involved with Anti Poaching measures before making my way back to Capetown via Swaziland and Lesotho. My aim is to raise as much as possible in both awareness and funds i so the last thing I want to do is to spend any of the money raised for charity on funding the trip. Any cash raised on this site will go directly to funding things like fuel, some accommodation, bike spares and visas. I will post a link to the charity site as soon as possible so that people can pay directly to their account.
