I hope this message finds you in a time where smiles prevail and laughter can often be heard. For those of you that don't know, Michael Anthony Beaver, my brother-in-law, tragically lost his life in an off-roading accident nearly 11 ½ years ago on January 20^th, 2002 at the age of 21.

I want to let you know what we've been working on in his honor. We've created a memorial scholarship to be awarded at Healdsburg High School, where Mike graduated from in 1998. It's called The Michael Beaver L.A.U.G.H. Memorial Scholarship. The acronym L.A.U.G.H. stands for Life's About Unreserved Great Humor. It will be awarded to a Healdsburg High School senior, who will be attending college the following Fall.

Because Mike was such a fun guy, one requirement for students to apply for The Michael Beaver L.A.U.G.H. Memorial Scholarship will be to write an essay about how they will bring humor and laughter to the world, both in their future career and life. Having fun and laughing was a vast part of who Mike was. It's such a simple concept and yet, it makes the world a better place. An article written in May of 2013 on HelpGuide.org stated this, "Laughter is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert. With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health." So go ahead, let out a chuckle. Maybe it will lead to more? The best kind of laugh is the one that fills your eyes with tears and works out your abs at the same time!

Our goal is to raise $5,000. We would love for this scholarship to become a tradition and be given away at Healdsburg High School annually. Each spring, Healdsburg High School hosts a Scholarship Awards Night. We went this past May and it was outstanding. These innocent young adults that are ready for the world find out just what scholarships they have been awarded on that night. There were many memorial scholarships and it was very emotional. We knew then, that this was the perfect way to honor and remember our friend, brother, uncle and son. A memorial scholarship is such a fantastic way for Mike to continue to be an influence today. We feel it's another way that he can put his mark on this world. Mike's legacy of making people laugh, living simply and fully will go on.

Love Beat Productions and Chrome Lotus will host a Mixer and Fundraiser on Thursday, August 29th, 2013 from 5-9pm. Come out to the Chrome Lotus for this special event! We will celebrate the life of Michael Beaver and help raise funds for this great cause. There will be a DJ and full bar as well. $10 COVER - Proceeds will go to the scholarship! There will also be a Special Drink Menu and the proceeds will go to the scholarship too. We hope to see you there!
