Help Me Become a Women's Rights Lawyer

Donation protected
In the United Kingdom it is illegal to physically discipline an animal, yet legal to strike a child. This is a breach of human rights, under the European Convention of the Rights of the Child.

Non-binary genders are still unable to get married, or file a sexual assault case, this is a breach of human rights.

There are too many issues in the manner in which women are treated by the legal system, sexual violence cases are particularly awful, this is a breach of human rights.

Hello there! My name is Lynsey-Jane, but most of you will know me as Linky.

In 2013 I was accepted to study an an Honours Degree in Law at the University of Stirling, this is an amazing opportunity as Stirling Uni has one of the best law faculties in the country, needless to say I feel incredibly privileged.

I shall be graduating in 2017, and when I do so, I will be using my qualifications to further the cause of women and children's rights. Current legislation in Scotland and across the UK is detrimental to women and children, and regularly infringes on their basic human rights. To make matters worse there is still great injustice being committed against rape victims and victims of Trans* and homophobic violence in Britain, there has never been a better time to show support for vulnerable women, non-binary people and children. The internet has given me a platform to make my voice heard and show my support globally, but I want to do more and that's why I am studying Law.

As a disabled student in my mid twenties my income isn't great, I have exhausted my options for scholarships, funding and grants, and I am unable to receive help from family at this time. I have raised £500 of my own money, however I was made homeless when my lease was dissolved in July 2013 making my finances even tighter as I had to fund finding a new place to live. Thankfully I was able to do this whilst studying and receiving treatment for my disability.

The costs of studying an LLB is almost £2000 every year for four years. The deadline for paying my tuition fees is September 2014, I have already received numerous invoices and consulted Student Money Services at my university, however I really need some help in gathering these funds. If you know of any organisations, groups and societies or individuals that would like to help sponsor a student like me, please get in touch.

Donations of any amount can be processed through this site, and I would be extremely grateful for any help you could give. I promise to make the most of every penny and will share with you all of my progress.

My grades this year have been better than I could've hoped and I have received a distinction in Family law, but if I am unable to pay my tuition fees before September 2014 I will be unable to enrol for next year, thank-you once more for all of your support.

Yours gratefully,
Lynsey-Jane "Linky" Gray
