Save Gerald's Sight

Gerald is the #1 student in his class, though he is blind in one eye, from a failed surgery a few years ago.  Now his other eye is starting to bother him, and he's worried. He needs a good opthamologist to perform successful surgery on both eyes. There are only 34 opthamologists in his country, Uganda, and most of them are in the capital, many hours away by bus. And he needs time to recuperate in a sanitary place.

Gerald is an orphan, under the care of his grandmother and aunt, who care for nine children in their mud hut compound in northern Uganda.  He loves math and science and English. He dreams of being a pilot, but of course, to do that, he'll need to be able to see. Whatever he becomes, he is a child with great potential, which would be a shame to waste! Please donate to help with transportation, lodging and medical expenses for this bright young man.
