EWS Dream Trip

So I've been stewing on this for a few days now. I had trepidation about posting this. Putting it out in a public forum seems to make it a whole lot more real. On a whim last Saturday I tossed my hat into a public lottery for a spot to go to #EWS #Enduro mountain bike racing in Aspen, Colorado. Lo and behold the past Monday afternoon I receive an email stating I was lucky enough to get in. I had to read it a few times to comprehend I was in. So with some excitement I let my wife and friends I ride with at work know. At this point it still seems not real.

Till I plunked down the entry fee money. Now it's real. Now serious training needs to start. Not sure what I'm going to ride at this point. My current ride has been beat on with a few serious crashes the past few years. And it's older tech with small wheels. Open to options.

But ultimately there are a few people that I'm going to need to thank in advance of the 165 days of complete batshit craziness.

My wife Jill whose immediate response was “Better start training” Not what I was expecting. I want to thank her hugely in advance for understanding the time and dedication this is going to require. It's going to be a huge help.

Next would be the guys I ride with. John Chris and his non-facespacing brother Owen. It's going to be a fun time chatting tech and riding till I puke lol

And on top of riding John is going to be an invaluable source of knowledge, experience and expertise.

The ultimate goal I have for this race is to get out there, race the 4-5 stages with the pedal up transfers, not get hurt and not DNF. ANYTHING beyond that is a bonus.

Lastly is the money that this going to take. From the personal gear, the bike set up, the spare parts and tires, travel expense and lodging out there. It's been suggested I start a Go Fund Me page. So here goes. Not something I ever tried before but if it helps out getting there why not.
