CO Springs Fire Volunteer Support Effort

Hi my name is Heather Modrow-Johnson and my parents home was one of over 500 homes that was claimed by the devastation of the Black Forest fire. I'm raising $ to help restore the Black Forest community and I am partnering with the Helping Hands Network.

In July of 2013 I led a volunteer effort to clean up and restore select parts of the Black Forest Community. There are still plenty of victims who can benefit from your contributions. If you donate to this cause here, send us a note with any special requests. For example, if you would like your funds to go to animal needs, just let us know and we will put the $ towards that. 

We used funds from 2013 to pay for volunteer expenses for neighborhood fire clean up efforts in the Black Forest area north east of Colorado Springs. We brought a team of volunteers from the surrounding area to help victims.

$400/week Long Distance Transportation
$100/day equipment expenses
$10/day per volunteer for food, shelter, and transport.

BUDGET NOTES:
DAY 1
$180 travel from Nebraska
$20 food


DAY 2
Morning: We met with those we are helping and toured the burn areas and then toured location of the temp home setup. We spent morning collecting and delivering animal items with the Black Forest Saddle Club donation drive.
Afternoon: Spent replacing some double doors in the temp home.
Evening: Had some fun with the host family at a rodeo fundraiser event and then setup sleeping quarters in the garage at the temp home.

DAY 3 & 4
Finished temp home door install and tile work. Fixed leaky roof.
