A Van For Eric

A hero is many different things to different people my hero is my husband Eric Heighton .
Eric retired from the Canadian Navy April 2002 at the age of 44 Spending 23 yrs in the military.. Eric loved the sea :fishing lobsters with his dad until he graduated and on to bigger adventures with the navy, he was always there with a helping hand and could repair anything he was just a "nacky" guy.. the bigger the challenge the bigger the grin on his face!
On Jan. 1st 2003, Eric got out of bed in the early hrs. of the morning sleep walking and fell down our basement stairs breaking his neck in 3 places , leaving him a complete quad, he is paralyzed from his neck down and now needs 24/7 care. but he has never lost his smile or his love of life. We really need a van, although he has a power chair we cannot go anywhere because we haven't a van to haul his chair , Dr.,Dentist all his appointments I have to fold up his push chair and load him in and out of our vehicle and I have to push him around which means we don't go out together unless we really have to.
The best thing to happen since the accident was the birth of our grandchildren Baylee and Bryton (twins) who will be 6 in April they are the joy of his life and they live 45 miles away and he has never had the pleasure to attend birthday parties, Christmas concerts ..etc..life passes by so very fast and it has been 10 yrs since his accident and we live on a dead end gravel road 40 miles from the nearest town
so as you know Eric is "stuck" in our yard day in and day out. Having a van to get him out to so many thing we have missed in the past 10 years would be a god sent our lives would be changed for the better and I thank you for the opportunity

Eric was recently in a contest via mobile awareness month and although making the finals we were unsuccessful in getting him the van he needs.
