We are raising money to help defray the costs of medical equipment,
including but not limited to the cost of a prosthetic leg for Adrienne.
Adrienne's story began last June when a stent was placed in her leg and that subsuquently led within one week to the formation of a blood clot, leaving her leg mangled and lame. After multiple surgeries and hospitilizations, she unexpectedly developed necrotizing fasciitus. This resulted in her leg being amputated right above the knee after Labor Day, in an effort to save her life. Since June, Adrienne has undergone 12 surgical procedures and is currently working to rehabilitate herself.
Adrienne is a 44-year-old single woman with a vibrant family life and has several close friends. She has a love for her pets and all animals in general. Adrienne has always taken the initiative to help animals in need. During the course of this journey, Adrienne has hit many bumps in the road. She lost her job, her eyesight has failed (and is unable to read, directly resulting from surgeries, and is in great need of glasses), and her beloved cat passed away. We have reached out to several agencies for assistance, but there is an unbelievable amount of red tape. Through it all, Adrienne has remained determined to get back to her normal life. Adrienne is struggling to pay the costs of health insurance on her own, but at this point will probably be unable to continue to pay it.The rehab facility has informed her that a prosthetic limb starts at $12000.
Financially, the funds raised will go toward the costs of her mortgage, medical bills that are not covered, hospital bills, medical equipment, and most importantly, a prosthetic leg. This will lead her to gain independence. Her insurance will not cover the full cost of a prosthesis, and it will take her months to work toward the use of a prosthetic limb through rehabilitation and the use of a temporary device. We also hope to meet her basic needs as an amputee.
