Studying Abroad in Egypt!

God willingly, this upcoming August, Mohamed and I will be embarking on a journey to study Arabic and Islamic Studies in Egypt! It'll be our first adventure abroad together :) We both will be doing the 9-months intensive Arabic program at Al-Diwan. Mohamed will then later on test to study at Al-Azhar and I hope to pursue my Islamic Studies education at another university insha'allah.
You're probably asking, why do we need to fundraise money? The answer is simple: because going abroad is EXPENSIVE! We need to have money to pay our registration fees, tuition, and living costs until one of us secures a job.
Below is a break down of our costs for the Diwan program.*
1. Round-trip ticket to Egypt
$1105 each person
$200 per person for any changes to flight itinerary.**
2. Intensive Arabic Courses (100 hours per month)
$600 each student
3. Arabic Calligraphy "Khatt Arabi" course (15 Hours per month)
$80 each student
4. Quranic Recitation (Tajweed) course
$10 each student
5. Registration fees: Placement test, Application fee, Center ID.
$20 each student
6. Certificate fees: Official certificate from the Egyptian Ministry of Education.
$20 each student
7. Textbook costs
$95 each student
8. Rent

9. Al-Azhar University Costs
TBD
10. Entry Visas
$23 each person
* These are Al-Diwan's prices for 2012. We have been notified that unfortunately prices have gone up this year *GASPS!* ='(
** This is in case we have to stay later than 355 days after we book our ticket due to any exams, moving arrangement, or unforeseen circumstances.
We also plan to take an Oxford Seminars course to receive our TESOL/TESL/TEFL Certification Course in order to teach English in Egypt before we leave. An Oxford Seminars Course is $1195 per person.
We need to have enough savings in our bank account to pay for our plane tickets, as well as having money set aside in case of any emergency were to happen. In the event neither of us secures a job in the first month we'll need to pay all the expenses above, have some wiggle room if other expenses come up, and we got to eat! Well Mohamed more than myself =P
