Resource Fair

The LGBT Pink Panthers Movement of Fresno has partnered with Gay Fresno, The Holistic Cultural and Education Wellness Center, My LGBT Plus, Parents Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG Fresno), and Fresno City College's Gender Spectrum Diversity Club;  to provide a family friendly resource fair to Central Fresno.

This resource fair will be having a Dj, Local Police Department displaying a Fresno P.D. vehicle for children to enjoy getting in and taking pictures, Fresno Fire Department will be displaying a truck for kids to get an upclose and personal tour. Characters will be making appearances, Cultural dancers displaying their dance, other performers and most importantly many of Fresno's community service agencies will be present to give their information (and freebies) on services available to help families of Fresno. 

The resource fair organizers have raised some funds but need more than anticipated. We are trying to get funds to help with booking a Mobile Science Bus for the children to learn things like the different bones of animals, how electricity travels and more. We have cultural dancers that would like us to donate to their fuel costs and assistance in keeping their nice, fancy, costumes in top shape. We are also seeking to book a bounce house for the children.

Our resource fair, September Spectacular, is happening Sept. 24, 2016 at Cary Park on Fresno St. (between Shaw and Gettysburg) from 9:00A-1:00P. So, we will need the funds prior in order to finalize bookings.

The reason we are having the event located at Cary Park is that there are many low income multi-family housing units around the Shaw Ave. and Fresno St. area and those families that can use this type of event for lack of transportation, or any other reason, has not been able to connect with local community service agencies for help. Bringing these agencies closer to them gives them the opportunity to find the help they need or discover new agencies for services they may need in the future.

Why this means so much to me? Coming from a single parent home, all my childhood my family was low income; sometimes not being able to make ends meet so we would be without lights for a month, or water for a couple of weeks for service being shut off; due to lack of money. No family should have to go through such hardships.

Helping us to help others not only helps them in the present time for their needs; but this is also helping them in the future should another need arise. Helping us provide this opportunity will be so greatly appreciated.
