Who are we?

We are the Fortune Cookie Collective, three Washington, DC playwrights, Chinita L. Anderson, Pooja Chawla, and Misha D. Clive, dedicated to producing original theatrical works. We met last year in Renee Calarco's "Playwriting From The Gut" class at Theatre Lab in DC where we discovered that we had the same dream: to write and produce original plays.

We seek to create theatre centered around the margins of society, chosen family, and human motivation.

Why are we asking you for money?

To help fulfill a lifelong dream of being creative artists and to fund the debut production of our original play "˜Bedroom Mirrors.'

'Bedroom Mirrors' is a part of the 2013 Capital Fringe Festival, with performances on July 13, 16, 20, 26 and 27 at the Fort Fringe-Bedroom, 612 L Street NW, 20001.

What is 'Bedroom Mirrors' about?

What happens when you're into someone who comes from a different world? Who's on a different path? When your body says YES, but your head says, "You couldn't be more wrong for me?"

'Bedroom Mirrors' is your chance to indulge your inner voyeur and peer into the dreams, ambitions, and secrets of unlikely couples in the bedroom. Arouse your mind with three tales:

'The Ticket' by Chinita L. Anderson: A radical graduate student and a disheartened soldier steam up the sheets as friends with benefits -- but what happens when one of them pushes for a deeper connection, while the other works desperately to protect a jaw-dropping secret.

'Broken Mirrors' by Pooja Chawla: A meeting between an artist and her ex turns into an unexpected night of passion followed by a heated discussion about the fate of their relationship. True feelings are revealed and a decision must be made. Will they get back together or finally say goodbye?

"Someone Who I Sometimes Am' by Misha Clive: The first trans woman to win a major reality talent show wants to sleep with her fellow contestant---but she fears her identity will get in the way of intimacy.

'Bedroom Mirrors' features a diverse cast and explores trailblazing vs conformity, the American dream, and getting what you really want.

What is the Capital Fringe Festival?

Capital Fringe is a well-respected arts festival that has taken place every July in Washington, DC for the last 7 years. In order to join the festival, every artist has to submit an application along with several fees. Once admitted into the festival, artists are provided with a venue and box office infrastructure. Everything else, big and small is the responsibility of the artists! Hence where you come in:

What are you going to do with the money?

We are asking for donations to help fund our Capital Fringe Festival production,"˜Bedroom Mirrors.' Your funds will help cover insurance, marketing, rehearsal space rental, props, wardrobe and most of all, will go to our actors. We're proud and excited to work with a great team.

Why should I give you my hard-earned money?

As producers, we've collectively put in $1500 of our own money. Help us match our contribution today with as little as $5.00. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated!
