Amazing Car Wash turnout. We feel so incredibly blessed. We made 616 dollars today and every cent counts. If you didn't make it to this wash, we will have plenty more. Haha maybe a little more planned next time so we don't run around like crazy people. A million thank yous aren't enough, God bless everyone who helped today.
Well back to the doctors today, PD catheter isn't working. Had to get an X-Ray and they said the tubes are in the correct position and look fine, now we are waiting for the doctors orders on what to do next to make it work. Still having slight pain and the dumb thing isn't even working. Hopefully they can figure out the problem :)
Shaylee got a hold of the local radios and they are going to announce the car wash to EVERYONE Wooh!! We have delivered donation buckets to lots of places and have been selling rice krispies at D&J Grill in Marsing, today we tried chocolate rice krispies and they were a big hit.
Andddd Katie Clous has given us the opportunity to sell large tote bags for the month if June and we get to keep some of the proceeds. I'll post the website and you will have to check them out!
Hope to see you soon at the car wash :)
Cat scan was good and so was his blood count, yay!!. They said the blood in the urine may have been because of the heparin he is given at dialysis. Get to go back home, hopefully the pain gets better.
We sure were excited for this PD catheter, but since he has gotten it it has caused a lot of pain! We pray nothing is wrong but he has never had so much pain from a surgery or had to take pain meds just to sleep. Today after dialysis, he peed blood and the doctor told him to go to the ER, so that's where we are now. He is getting blood and urine tests and a cat scan to find out what's wrong. Let's pray it is nothing bad and we can go back home asap. I'll keep everyone updated.
Also don't forget about Saturdays car wash!! 1 to 5 at albertsons!
Still slowly recovering from the PD Catheter surgery, he has been hurting pretty bad from it. He keeps saying it is because the doctors had to cut through his abs but I'm a little worried. He is getting better everyday though and is counting down the days till he does his own dialysis.
We made a ton of rice krispies and are selling them at D&Js Grill in Marsing, and there will be a car wash on Saturday the 1st at 3:00 at Albertsons in Nampa all to help with his kidney transplant.
Anything helps :) we are also going to decorate the donation buckets so we can deliver them around town and to anyone who knows of a good spot for one. Just let us know if you have any ideas.
Thank you and hope to see you and your car at the car wash! :)
He is in recovery now, he is hurting pretty bad. He said this surgery is the most painful surgery he has ever had, they gave him some morphine and now some norco so hopefully the pain will fade away. Can't eat for twenty four hours so that means none of my candy :( but he can have some grape juice and liquids. Praying he feels better and can heal quickly.
Just finished surgery. I got him some grape juice and candy ;) hopefully they let him eat it. The doctor brought out photos of the PD Catheter and said that it all went great and I will get to see him in about an hour. West valley medical center is the best hospital I have been to so far, very kind and caring and they really go the extra mile here. I hope Shane feels the same way, it means a lot to me that I feel he is well taken care of! His doctor even bought him flowers. I'm sure he is just hungry and ready to get home!
We hope to have a carwash this Saturday to raise some money :) Costco said no, but we are asking albertsons in Nampa, hopefully they say yes and hopefully we get to wash your car!!
Have a good day and God bless
Surgery tomorrow for the PD Catheter, should be a fast and easy operation and be back home. Haven't been feeling too good lately and slept all day today, it will be exciting to start doing dialysis on my own and get Mon Wed Fri mornings back!!
Dialysis in the morning for four hours. They tell me to have 4 servings of protein a day plus their little protein treat they give me while on dialysis. I'm not complaining about those doctor orders, steak, burgers, chicken, small amounts of dairy Yum :)
have a good night everyone!
Found out today that insurance may be better than we expected!! We sure hope it is :)
It will be about two years until Shane can get a new kidney transplant, but he will be able to live a little more normally with the PD Catheter, which will be awesome!
Thank you and God bless for everything!
Had the pre-operation check up today and the operation will be on Tuesday. Can't wait to be done with Hemodialysis, and start the PD catheter to be able to do dialysis on my own. Thank you for all your support!!
Visited the doctors today and set up the date to put the PD catheter in on May 23, 2013
Shane is the person who's smile and positive attitude spreads anywhere and everywhere he goes. Shane is only 19 years old, but has gone through more than most 19 year olds can imagine. He had a kidney transplant after undergoing many months of tests and doctor visits for him and different family members, and finally a match was found. His cousin Jeremy gave Shane his kidney on July 13, 2010.
Until the end of April and beginning of May 2013, his health has been perfect except his Crone's Disease. Shane and his family received the news through a biopsy that his kidney failed.
He spent six days in the hospital where he got a temporary hemodialysis catheter followed by a hemodialysis catheter in his chest, so he can be on dialysis until he can get a new kidney transplant. His kidney was removed on May 1, 2013 and on May 21st, he is going to get a PD catheter put in his stomach so that he can be on mobile dialysis which will allow him to live a more normal life and he can do dialysis by himself. He is excited to be done with Hemodialysis!
We pray that he can get a new kidney transplant soon and like Shane always says, "You never know the good in life until you experience the bad."
