LOVE TRINI

Trinidad Flores loved life. He knew, in a way most of us never will, how lucky we are just to be alive. Trini started fighting for his life two years ago, at age 14. At an age when most teenagers are sharing a first kiss or ditching math class, Trini began his battle with dilated Cardiomyopathy. A heart condition that meant lots of doctors, surgeries and eventually a new heart.
Waiting for a new heart, Trini went about life with passion, making plans for his future and saving money for college. He loved his family, his friends, his girlfriend:and maybe most of all, his dog. He never hesitated to show it. Trini was an artist, a musician, a leader, a brother, a son. He was kind and loving and connected with people, really connected with them, encouraging friend to follow their passion and making people feel their importance.
On April 12th when the call came in that a heart was available, the excitement was bittersweet. A new beginning for Trini meant an end for someone else and his family prayed for peace for his donor's family.
After a fourteen hour, successful transplant, Trini crashed. He had a massive stroke that went undetected during his induced coma. Several days after his surgery, his friends and family had to say goodbye. Over 200 people turned out for a prayer vigil, so many that they had to visit in shifts. When the time came, his family made the only decision they could, the one Trini would have wanted. They donated his organs.
Now, to keep his legacy, his heart, alive. The Love Trini Foundation is raising funds for causes important to Trini. Funds collected here will be donated to the Little Earth sports teams, a Native American Community where sports are new and need a lot of funding to get started. They've changed their name to the Red Bears, Trini's Indian name, in honor of the friend they lost. His family wants to support them the way they supported Trini.
