Falcor the Ferret needs surgery :(

Donation protected
Your help is greatly appreciated... Our 11 year old dog Lola just bit our ferret's face open this morning and we rushed him to the pet ER. His left eye socket is ripped with some damage to his eye, his nasal cavity is filled up with blood from the tear, his jaw is possibly broken and he has an internal infection & fever while awaiting surgery. After losing my human child to an ectopic pregnancy in January of 2012, I cannot bear the loss of any of my beloved pets whom I love & treat as if they were my own children to fill the void in my life as a young woman battling infertility who wants something to love & care for.

I have 3 ferret babies whom I love & always keep my animals separate to avoid these unseen incidents. This happened so quickly, and after we truly thought the dog would not be at risk of harming our ferret friends. Although I cannot stop blaming myself and feel sick to my stomach that I have failed my beloved creatures, it was indeed an unfortunate accident.

We were racing to the hospital and I had him in my arms bleeding with literal tears of pain in his remaining eye, desperately trying to keep him from falling asleep after waking up from shock while driving in traffic in 100+ degree weather. Even then, he was being so super sweet to me, doing a cutesy head roll that he usually does when he wants love & pettings... this has been a very heartbreaking and shocking day.

At first, when I brought him to the animal ER, they told me that if I did not have the $1500 upfront that they would have to put him dow; after making a million frantic phone calls at the animal hospital, I finally got in touch with a beautiful woman named Jessica from People For Animals. She has set me up with a quick loan to pay the difference so that Falcor would not have to die simply because I didn't have $1500 available during a serious emergency. I now have an empty bank account & owe a ton of money, but the most important factor in this is that Falcor is likely going to be ok. They have him overnight and will performing surgery on his eye, nasal cavity, mouth & jaw first thing tomorrow. I will certainly not be doing a lot of sleeping tonight... my last image of him is him sitting in an oxygen tank with blood all over his face, still so happy to see me and eager for love :(

This has left me in a pretty bad financial situation, and I am used to being able to provide my fur babies with the best of everything in life - I have 3 ferrets, and 2 sugar gliders, and both require a lot of frequent, meticulous care, including specialized diets, hours of playtime, and this requires me to not be flat broke for an extended amount of time.

Your generous contribution will be put toward paying back my loan I received from People For Animals, and toward Falcor's follow-up exotics care, extensive home care, special diet while healing - this will enable me to continue to provide the proper diet & lifestyle for Falcor & my other babies. Currently, I have emptied my bank account over this... I don't regret it as I would do anything to make sure Falcor is ok - but I could certainly use a little helping hand throughout the process so that I don't have to cut corners in his followup care & any other emergencies that might arise... ferrets breathe out of their nasal cavity and his is currently filled with blood - they told me that he will be at risk for developing infections and I still do not know how extensive the damage is to his face... he could possibly need special care from now on, which I am more than willing to provide. I am usually financially able to handle things like this but the unexpected emergency has really set me back right now.

Any money received in excess of what is needed for his care will be given to the beautiful-hearted people who helped make it possible for me not be forced to put my baby to sleep today - People For Animals, in Tucson, AZ.

Thank you so much for listening to a frantic, very shaken woman who truly loves her pets' very long, possibly disorganized message, and bless your generous loving hearts in advance for your help <3

(Photo caption- Falcor is the larger cream colored ferret to the far right-this is when he was happy & feeling well, shown snuggling with his little brother, Rikki-Tikki, and his sister, Tavi. As you can see, he looks just like the Luck Dragon from the Neverending Story, hence his name :) )

This is Falcor now, about an hour ago when we went to go visit him in ICU:

Please help us help our friendly little stinky baby, and keep us in your thoughts <3
