Colin was diagnosed with CMML2, a rare form of leukemia with an expected lifespan of 9-18 months.
Needless to say this was totally devastating for us This was on Wednesday, we were just starting to get our head around it when our house burnt down on Saturday. This was a family home that had seen three generations there as well as all the memories. When Colin was diagnosed I took comfort in the fact that I would have all our memories around me and everything that was comfortable and held memories of our life together, now even that has been stripped away.
We do have insurance, but this takes time for all the processing and there are many things you don't anticipate when you have to start again from scratch.
We had what we had left the house in. The clothes on our back and our phones, thongs on our feet.
When we arrived at the scene I explained to the fire safety officers and the police what the situation was with Colin's health and they have been amazing. They got some photos out and my hard drive from the computer. I can never thank them enough for this.
i am amazed at how many costs you have that you don't consider when you take out insurance.
Getting the data off the hard drive will cost money as a computer shop will have to try to retrieve the data if that is possible with the damage done.
We needed to transfer our internet plan, again that costs us, getting car keys replaced, documents replaced, all the little things to start the process of rebuilding.
so many people have offered us money that I thought the easiest way would be to set up this page.
if no one donates, that's fine, but for those who want to I wanted to make it available.

We are taking one day at a time as this is all we can manage right now.
I have osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia and multiple allergies, including chemical allergies. I have a special diet, I have to use special washing powder. I am allergic to latex which is in most mattresses and pillows. I had a spa to give me some pain relief, I had special pillows and back supports to help me, we had had our lounges custom made to support my back. I have to prepare all my meals from scratch and can only use gluten free. I am allergic to Barley, kelp, which is used as a thickener in almost everything, garlic, onion, malt, rice syrup, xanthum gum, turmeric, rosemary, curry, chilli, most legumes, caramel, mint and the list goes on, so have very specific dietary needs. I had all my staples on hand to make my own food but lost all that too.
It is so overwhelming just trying to get the initial things that I need to be well so that I can be there for Colin as he begins his terrible journey.
