Help Save Nora The Cat

Donation protected

The Tabscott family was very saddened to find their beloved cat had been shot in their neighborhood on the morning of Oct. 6, 2016.

Nora is a sweet kitty who adopted the family in a special and unique way in Dec. of 2014.  While on a hunting trip, Chris (who has never been a cat person) was surprised when a small kitten climbed into his tree stand and snuggled in close on his lap for 3 hours during his hunt.  After following him back to his cabin the kitty camped out on a window sill until the next morning when she again joined him and a friend for the day's hunt.  After several bowls of milk and some food he sent the rest of the family a picture saying we had a new member of the family.

Nora, named for the street where the cabin is located, is the friendliest and sweetest cat we have ever known.  She thinks she is a hunting dog and even comes when called like a dog.  As soon as she sees a person she will roll over on her back asking for a belly rub.  She loves attention and wants to be the center of it!  She even will lay underneath the basketball goal as kids shoot baskets, unafraid of harm that could come to her, only wanting to be where her people are.

We were heartbroken to see her the morning of Oct. 6th, standing at our garage holding her leg limp at her side.  She immediately layed down and cried when we approached her.  We took her to our vet and were appalled to find out that she had been shot by a pellet gun with enough force to break her leg.  We were even more shocked because we live in a neighborhood, in the middle of a city.

She is sedated now and getting IV fluids and antibiotics and will hopefully get surgery tomorrow.  Unfortunately, the surgery is very costly and is a stretch for our budget this month.  The vet is anticipating costs to run anywhere from $1800-$3000 dollars depending on what they find when they do the surgery and how they will have to repair the damage.

Many people have reached out to us to say they are willing to donate towards her care and we are so blessed and humbled by those offers.  Our hope is that we can raise enough support to get Nora the care she needs plus help to support The Nashville Humane Association .

Any donations received will be split 50/50 with half going to Nora's care and half going to The Nashville Humane Association which helps to combat animal cruelty.  If we were to happen to raise more money than what was needed any extra funds would be donated to The Nashville Humane Association.

Your help, prayers and support will help bring our special kitty home to us and we will be so grateful and thankful!
