Good Afternoon:
My name is Frank Perez, andI am a social worker/paralegal living in the city of Rowland Heights,California.
Recently, there has been an influx of homeless within the city. Due to a change of demographics, especially within the business community, many homeless who used to be able to walk into businesses to use their hygiene facilities are no longer welcome. Consequently, many homeless are unable to provide for themselves with basic needs as showers and basic hygiene.
Recently, there was an attempt to pass a state law (California Assembly Bill AB-5),that would allow the homeless to be able to access city and County facilities without being asked to leave by authorities for no other reason than being homeless.
When you think about it, any community can provide these basic services like showers, clean clothing, and having a healthcare providers available to assess the needs of this population. People complain that government should not have to do everything and I agree. People within their own communities can do just as well if not better.
My request is to ask anyone within the scope of this message to please consider funding this one-day program. Additionally, all I ask is at least one dollar. If I can get 10,000 people to donate one dollar, then we will have $10,000, enough available to pay for the portable shower rentals, power and water, and incidentals like canopies, and provisions for the workers. Everything else such as workers and donations will be provided by those kind enough to donate their time and talents.
Any help your can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time,
Frank Perez
