I first began brewing just over three years ago when my wife Joanna got me a Brooklyn Brew Shop home brew kit for Christmas and a book of standard recipes to go with it. The kit included all the equipment and the ingredients Iwould need to brew just 1 gallon of beer at home. It was on that first brew day that I knew this was my passion and that this was what I wanted to do for a living.
From that day on, I became a student of the art of brewing. I have read many books on the subject, listened to hundreds of podcasts, read every online forum, and invested in new equipment when I could. I’ve been getting equipment for Christmas and birthdays for the last few years – it’s all that I’ve wanted and all that I think about.
However, this isn’t enough to get into professional brewing these days. I need to learn the mechanics of large scale brewing and the deeper science behind many things from a technical standpoint. I want to learn from the best in the industry and luckily here in Chicago we have the Siebel Institute, the world’s oldest and premiere school for brewing. I have enrolled in the Concise Course in Brewing Technology and I start in November! This is the first class of many more at Siebel and I am trying to fund about half of the overall tuition through this campaign.
Siebel is technically a trade school so I can’t take out any student loans. I need some help and support so I can reach my dreams! Will you consider a small donation to help a brewer out? Thanks everyone!
