Hello everyone,
My name is Said Jiddawy and I was raised in Toronto, Ontario. My parents are very strict, old fashioned and very religious. Which is why when I came out to them over the Christmas break as gay and gender-queer they told me they will no longer support me financially and that they are ashamed of me. I've gotten many emails from them stating how I'm performing the devil's work and it's made me very depressed.
I was - up until I was basically disowned going to school at Trent University for forensics and physics - paying for school with OSAP and paying for rent with money from my parents. Now, unfortunately, that they've cut me off I am left to my own devices and have no where to turn to. I have tried to scrape by with what leftover money I had from the spring but to no avail. I have also been looking for work furiously but again to no avail. I have started to do work on the side as a drag queen but I make very little. I have applied to Ontario Works but could only do so at the end of April once I was off of OSAP, which means by the time I could finally have access to that money, I would have been 3 months behind rent already.
I currently make $626 from Ontario Works a month and $620 of it goes to rent. As a drag queen I make about $40-$100 a month depending on bookings. I still have to pay my hydro bill, internet bill, buy food, and other personal purchases. I currently owe my land lord $620*3=$1860.
I have explained the situation to my landlord and they have been very understanding. They told me I had until September to sort out the situation. Unfortunately, September is fast approaching and I am no where near solving the situation.
Please help me out and please help me avoid eviction. It would mean the world to me. I want to show my parents and everyone else out there who thinks queer people aren't people and that we deserve to suffer that we do not. I want to thank everyone in advance.
