Help Alasdairs GB SBX team training

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Alasdair, and I'm a GB SBX Rider from Dumfries, Scotland. I have recently been selected for the British Snowboard team to go out abroad to train and compete, but I won't be able to do this without your support.

So how about a little about me and why you support would be extremely helpful.....

I have been riding for what is now coming 15 years. I have done a number seasons riding and teaching in Scotland and abroad. I'm a freestyle licenced coach, BASI level 2 instructor and have passed my ISIA technical exam - a pretty damn tough one to get with only a 12% pass rate, but one which has made me an extremely good technical snowboarder.

Last season I started my own snowboard school as I wanted to do things my way, as I feel my experience as an instructor has taught me a lot about how a snowboard lesson should be taught, this also gave me a great opportunity to help the local up and coming ski area of Lowther Hills in the South of Scotland, and provide them with support to help raise awareness and funding. You can check out the Community project  at  www.skiclub.lowtherhills.com

So why SBX?

I feel SBX is the perfect fit for me, I love gunning it down hills as fast as I can, being on that edge of I'm in control / something bad is about to happen ;) . But not only that, SBX riding is the perfect blend of each aspect of snowboarding - freestyle, piste performance and freeriding. 3 areas I have great ability in thanks to my ISIA technical exam.

I am very confident of my ability on a snowboard :) , but it means I have to compete harder against myself if I am not happy with where I am at.

So why do I need your support?

British Snowboard X is an extremely underfunded program and because of this, the athletes need to head out, and find funding themselves through whatever means possible, however, with your support on Gofund Me.com you will be giving a very enthusiastic and skilled snowboarder a chance to train and compete against other top riders in Europe, which can possibly lead to selection for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and then Beijing in 2022, which would be quite frankly, phenomenal, and help raise more awareness for the British SBX team, and get more Kids and Adults into snowboarding.

My target is pretty big - £12,000, but reaching it will pay for all my fee's over the course of the season from 1st October - 31st March, including but not limited to, Coaching, accommodation, competition fee's, travel costs, equipment, general living costs, insurance, season lift pass.

I don't want to ask for a lot, as I know people work hard for their money, but If you are able to make a small donation of £3 - £10 to my campaign I would be very grateful.

I have nothing I can give you in return, other than a massive thank you, and I appreciate your support and donations.

If you have questions you can get in touch via my facebook page below or drop me an email at [email redacted].uk

Thanks, much love, x

Alasdair
