Thank you for being a part of Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition. Every dollar you spend helps keep someone alive.
What is Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition (AHRC)?
Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition is Georgia's only harm reduction and syringe exchange program. Our vision is to service individuals who require a higher level of care and follow through with linkage to relevant services. AHRC provides education and risk reductionprograms, empowering adults in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of substance use, HIV/AIDS, STIs, Viral Hepatitis and other communicable diseases.
What is harm reduction?
Harm reduction is a public heath strategy that recognizes humans will always engage in some risky and unsafe behavior. We reach out to drug users, sex workers and the homeless population among others in order to meet people where they are and build relationships to encourage them to take small steps toward a healthier lifestyle. Where strict zero-tolerance approaches define the lack of abstinence as "failure", harm reduction defines any small step toward a healthier lifestyle as progress. As it's said on the streets, harm reduction helps people come up.
