Growing interest in locally grown products and the NY Farm Brewery designation, along with increased numbers of micro breweries in the Northeast have created the need for an affordable, reliable, high-quality source of brewing ingredients.
There have been many start-up hop farms in the Northeast, but no central method of processing those whole leaf hops into pellets for brewers.
The cost of the equipment will be significant, but will be of value to the hop farmers (in having a marketable product) and to brewers who are looking for New York hops.
Consider this: 10 times as many microbreweries opened than closed across the U.S. in 2012. What other industry can say that?
