CHILDRENS CHRISTMAS WISH RUN
What would it be like as a child to wake up Christmas morning and find no presents under your tree? Believe it or not it happens right here in America, in your community, in our community.
Sometimes unfortunate children are taken from their homes due to unsafe conditions such as abusive parents, neglectful parents, drug addicted parents, or parents who simply cannot or do not want to care for them anymore. These children ranging in age from teenagers to infants are taken into custody through the County Child Protective Services Agency and relocated to grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc... Many times these children leave their home never to return with nothing more than a small sack of clothing, not a toothbrush or a pillow. Often times children are placed into homes with families already living on a fixed income and they already have a difficult time affording day to day living. Then adding the lifestyle change brought along with these children, affording Christmas is almost impossible without the help of volunteers donating money to the "Adopt A Child" Program. This is a program set up to purchase Christmas gifts for these unfortunate children.
My name is Timothy Louis, I love to run, I love to coach kids, I love to watch kids be successful in life but most of all I love to try to make the world a better place. By everyone doing their part every day we can make this world a wonderful place to live in again. Through our leadership, teaching, random acts of kindness, generosity, and simply showing who we really are inside we can be a model for people and children everywhere. I believe in the good in this world and I have not lost faith in humanity and I am willing to do my part everyday to try to bring peace, happiness, and good back to our community.
CHILDRENS CHRISTMAS WISH RUN is and idea developed from someone who just wants to give back to the community they live in. So I asked my best friend, Andrew Lilje to help me to come up with this idea of us completing a 52.4 mile double marathon trail race together in order to raise funds for this wonderful cause. The race is called Run With Scissors Double Marathon Run and it takes place in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park on October 29th.
Friends please, We are not asking for much here any little bit helps...We will be distributing the money made from this account evenly between Muskingum and Guernsey County, Ohio, Adopt a Child Programs. Between the two programs they usually have around 500 children to buy Christmas presents for and I was advised that they anticipate numbers to be up this year due to larger drug problems. Andrew and I will incur all expenses associated with the race such as food, travel, and lodging, etc...
These children never asked to be born into poor conditions but it doesnt mean they have to suffer from it either. Im willing to train for over 3 months to try to run 52.4 miles....yea over 50 miles, who does that, help me help them.
