Goober's Cancer Fund

We adopted Goober when he was just a little ball of fluff (approx 6 months old) Jan 22, 2008. He has always been such a loving, snuggly, affectionate baby. He loves to just cuddle with you for hours, and is always free with his kisses.

We noticed a growth on Goober's cheek in May 2018. Being unresponsive to antibiotics, and with a rapid growth and change in appearance of the lump, we knew something wasn't right and had to act quickly. We drove 2.5 hours away to see an exotics specialist at a veterinary teaching hospital at Washington State University. After examining him, they determined surgery was the best option to remove the mass before it got any bigger; especially being so close to his eye. Rabbits don't always respond well to anesthetic, so this was incredibly nerve wracking. But he pulled through! Test results on the mass, however, came back with our biggest fear: Cancer. They recommended radiation treatment. Knowing how stressful that long of a car ride is for him, on top of recouping from the surgery, we opted to just keep an eye on him, and hope for the best. "The best" was not meant to be.

A second mass popped up in less than 2 months. Our local vet once again tried antibiotics, just in case it was a reaction to the first surgery, or a small infection. But once again, no response. Goober is going for surgery #2 on Jan 2, 2019 to have this new mass removed, and will then begin radiation therapy a couple weeks after. This cancer is not messing around. But I will NOT let it take my baby! The first surgery set us back about $500, so we're assuming #2 will be about the same, and radiation has been quoted to us for $500-$1000. While my baby is 100% worth it, it's a pretty good chunk of change. Any help towards the "Goober Charity for Old Licky Bunnies Foundation" would mean the world to us. Any money raised over the amount to cover Goober's medical expenses will be donated to the Little Lives Small Animal Rescue here in the Tri-Cities, WA.
