We are Mulberry High School Band in Mulberry, Florida. Our band this year has 100 members and has grown to become a band of high expectation and excellence. We are a small Title I school with a diverse population.
We are currently starting our new year with considerable needs to purchase new school owned instruments, guard uniforms, and equipment. The majority of our wind instruments that are owned by our school were purchased over 30 years ago. All of our percussion instruments are held together with duct tape and that is no longer a viable solution. While we continue to make repairs to our instruments, they are beginning to "sound" their age.
Our band booster club is able to provide for the general operating expenses (transportation, supplies, sheet music, etc.), but is unable to support the greater financial needs that we have listed above. We do not charge the students large fees to be a part of our band, because they would not be able to afford them if we did.
We are seeking the immediate support from you, the public, in order to purchase the uniforms and silks for our colorguard before football season starts and to start replacing the instruments one by one as we receive the funds.
As a public school, we are governed by the county on how we can raise money for each individual school group. It is difficult to meet the overall needs of each group when you are limited locally to contact the same businesses and family support over and over again.
We are hopeful that by creating this GoFundMe page we will be able to reach a greater number of people that are able to give to a worthwhile high school band in order to make their musical dreams come true.
