Help Sarah Build A House for Her Haiti Family!
My name is Sarah, I’m 12 years old and I was born in Haiti. I was adopted when I was 18 months old and I live in Portland, Oregon.
After the devastating earthquake in 2010, many Haitians are still struggling. It has been 5 years and my birth family still doesn’t have a permanent home — I want to help them!
For the past few years I have been raising money to build a house for my Haiti family. I’ve done lots of extra chores, I had a bake sale with some friends, I sold hats & scarves that I sewed myself, and I made an all-natural housecleaning product. I am really proud that this month I was able to buy a piece of land in Haiti for building my birth family’s house.
Now I can use your help! For $5,000 we can build a two-room home for my birth parents and siblings. If we receive more money than that, we will build a larger house so more members of my Haiti family can live together. If you are really generous with your donations, we will build homes for as many Haitian families as we can!
When it’s time to build the house, my adoptive mom, my brother Santo and my sister Nikaya and I will travel to Haiti to build the house alongside our Haiti parents and brothers and sisters.
