"Stand with Derek" Recovery Fund

Hello, My name is Derek Boyd. I am a gay male living in the DFW area trying to make a difference like many others. When I got my first law enforcement job working for Collin County Sheriffs Office I was beyond excited. I couldnt wait to make a difference in my community and state.  I began working for Collin County Sheriffs Office in January of 2016.  I was excelling very well in my position and had no complaints from other officers nor rank. I loved getting up in the morning, putting my uniform on, and then looking at myself in the mirror and being like "wow, I am finally getting somewhere and making a difference". I love helping others and devoted myself to the law enforcement career because I want to make a difference. Around March of 2016 I was subjected to discrimination when I was called a "faggot". I felt this was beyond discriminatory so I reported it to my LT. who then in return gave me a write up. I was faced to deal with and work with this woman who would constantly discriminate against me. So I reached out to Human Resorces who then told me that there was nothing they could do. So I again hit a wall. I was subjected to over 4 IA investigations because of my complaint and was forced out. I even faced a 8 hour polygraph examination without food or drinks and PASSED proving I was telling the truth. NO ONE ELSE had to take a polygraph only I did. I was terminated on June 30, 2016 because of my sexual orientation and also because I made the complaint of discrimination. I have since been fighting with them trying to get unemployment which has been a constant fight because they dont feel they should have to pay since gay employment discrimination is legal in the state of Texas. I urge you to stand with me and fight this as this law has to be changed and there must be protections for everybody in Texas. I dont ask for help but I am in need of help. I am about to lose my vehicle, home, and barely making it by with my other bills. I have no income right now and havent since June 30, 2016. I am currently interviewing for other jobs as we speak. I ask that you find it in your heart to help me and donate whatever you can so that I may keep my car, home, and pay my bills while obtaining other employment.
