At the beginning of March I started an 18-month cycling trip across Europe with my tattoo machines in tow. The main purpose of my journey was to tattoo people I met along the way, and to share their stories on my blog. (thetravellingtattooartist.wordpress.com) I was off to an amazing start, but this morning fate threw a stick in my wheels... Exhausted after being up all night on a packed ferry, I fell asleep in a train station's waiting room with my bike locked up about a meter away from my head. When I awoke an hour later, my bicycle and everything that was on it was gone...
I don't want to go home! The amazing experiences I've already had are urging me to keep going. I've been planning this for months... no way I'm going to quit.
That being said, I need to get some equipment back; most importantly, a bike! I'll be checking out ebay and going to cycling stores tomorrow to start my hunt for a new ride. I'm not looking for the cadillac of bikes; something second-hand will do just fine. After that, I'll have to replace my notebook, so that I can keep updating my blog as I go. Again, second-hand will do; as long as it gets the job done.
I've lost cycling gear and accessories a plenty, my e-reader, some clothes, shoes... It'll take a while to get it all back, but that's ok. One day at a time!
Some friends have asked that I set up a site to accept donations... and though it wasn't my intention to ask for this kind of help, I am grateful to all of you who have offered it! Within hours, my tears of frustration and sadness have been replaced with tears of gratitude. I'm overwhelmed by the generosity and compassion that so many have shown me today... It warms my heart and I can only hope to have the chance to pay it forward every day!
