Hi! My name is Zachary and I need your help. I have a chance to compete at the 2013 World Dwarf Games in August at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, proudly representing Team USA. I am 11 years old and a 5th grade student at Stony Point Elementary in MO.
This will be the first World Dwarf Games hosted by the U.S. since the first was held in 1993 in Chicago. Every four years, the World Dwarf Games are hosted by a different country. The Dwarf Athletic Association of America will host the 2013 Games. The World Dwarf Games won't be back on American soil again for at least two decades. The Games may never again be as big as they will be this year in East Lansing, Mi
I truly want to be a part of this historic event! I am currently preparing to compete in basketball, track & field and flag football. I will be representing not only Grain Valley, but the United States of America!!
This is a chance to bring attention to me, to my home town, and to my country based on my ability as an athlete. I have very few opportunities to compete on a with athletes like myself, of all skill levels from all around the world for a week; to be where only people with dwarfism are allowed to be stars - where dwarfism becomes irrelevant. That's why these international games represent what is likely to be a once in a lifetime experience. How could I pass up such an opportunity? In every event and every sport, it's guaranteed that at least one dwarf athlete will prove, to their self and others, that they really are special. It could be me!!
There are no Olympic Committee funds to help dwarf athletes prepare for or compete in the World Dwarf Games. So while my performance at the Games is all on my shoulders, I could really use your help getting to and participating in the Games.
Now I am down to the hard part. Can I ask you to consider making a contribution to help send
me to the World Games? Or a sponsorship? I have enclosed a donation form to make giving as easy as possible. All proceeds will go toward the preparation for, travel to, registration, uniforms and participation in the 2013 World Dwarf Games at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan August 3- 10, 2013, for my family and myself.
