Please Help Me See Again

Hello, my name is Rob and recently I have been diagnosed with a rare corneal disease. I am a father to 2 little girls and the main breadwinner in the family. I work as a mechanic at a small shop locally. My vision has gone down hill here recently and I'm really missing out on so much in life. I find it very difficult to see to drive anymore and my performance at work is suffering. With this disease, my cornea becomes cloudy and the outer layers don't adhere well to the rest of the cornea and just kinda fall off. This causes my eyes to become blurry, scratched up, dry, red, itchy and if left like this too long, irreversible scaring which would necessitate a corneal transplant. Luckily, it appears I still have a shot at saving my corneas. Unfortunately, with this disease glasses are useless, soft contacts whisk away what little moisture my eyes do have and rigid contacts just destroy my already fragile corneas. As of now, I have 2 options, corneal transplants, which are expensive and will require many months of down time from work, and the risk of rejection or, very speciallized contacts called Scleral contact lenses. Scleral contacts are rigid contacts that ride on the white part of the eye and do not touch the cornea at all. In fact, the lenses have a pocket of fluid to help keep my cornea well hydrated and protected with the lenses in. These are the ideal solution for my disease currently. The bad news is that they are not a very common type of contact, there are very few places who fit them, and then there's the cost. I do not have health insurance, but even if I did, very few insurance companies will cover these special lenses. For the pair of contacts, the cost will be about $4500. I have already spent a small fortune between trying different types of contacts, drops, medicines, Dr's appointments and missed time at work. I have some of the money but for the most part I am tapped out. I am lucky in that there is a place within an hour drive from me that fits these special lenses.
I know everyone is strapped for cash these days but anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not the type to ask for help so this isn't easy for me but I sure could use some right about now. The longer I wait to get these lenses, the more risk there is in scaring and infection. Thank you for taking time to read my story and for anything you can do to help.
