Dog Rescue Needs Beds and Toys

Donation protected
I am a volunteer for a dog rescue called “A 2nd Chance Pet Adoptions”  around Hillsboro, Ohio. Since their beginning the person who started the rescue has had the dogs in outdoor kennels, with dog houses.  The goal is to build a building for the dogs so they will be out of  bad weather .   The dogs are fed well.  Their 25 lb. feeders are filled before they are empty so the dogs  are never without food or water.  In the winter she has heated water buckets so their water won’t freeze.  The rescue, owner and the volunteers would be so thankful for some help in getting a nice building for the dogs.

The Rescue is not a 501(C)3 so the rescue cannot get grants of any kind to help out with the expenses.  The owner pays for the dogs food and vet bills by relying on donations and adoptions.  She also has a job as a teacher and for a few years had to use the money she earned from teaching to feed her rescue dogs.

She and a friend started the rescue after volunteering at our dog pound.  They found that many of the dogs that they were walking and socializing one day would be euthanized the next time they came to volunteer.   They decided to start their own dog rescue and save as many dogs as possible from euthanasia.  She tries to keep around 20 dogs at a time.  If she gets some adopted and she has room for more she will go to the pound and usually chooses the dogs who have been there the longest.  She has gotten hundreds of dogs adopted and saved many from euthanasia.

Besides getting dogs from the pound, she has had many dogs given to her after someone has found the dog  on the road or the dog has come onto their property and can’t take care of them.  Also if a dog owner has to surrender their dog for whatever reason she will take them too.

The owner has worked tirelessly for about 10 years to help as many homeless dogs as she can to find a home of their own.  On Saturdays she goes to various places like one of 3 separate TSC’s, Petland, or Kmart with about 8 of her dogs for an adoption event.

She is now raising money to give the dogs something other than a kennel  and dog house to stay in until they are adopted.  We have raised all but about $5000 but would be happy to raise $10000 if we could.  We plan on starting  construction of the building for the dogs in late August or September.

If you are able to donate to this rescue, we would be happy with anything and very grateful.  Thank you in advance as we know the dogs will be very happy to have a cozy building for a home instead of a dog house.
