College of Charleston Rowing
The College of Charleston Crew Team was founded in the Spring of 1989. It encompasses both the women's and men's teams and is made up of more than 50 athletes. We row on the Ashley River, as one of the only collegiate crews to row in saltwater.
We travel near and far to attend regattas across the East Coast, including some of the largest in the nation. These include Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, TN, Head of the Charles in Boston, MA, and Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, PA.
Dedication and passion are the centerfolds of our team. Varsity rowers start practice at the crack of dawn, with the novice team newly contributing to those early days on the water. We dedicate ourselves to this team, and the outcome is not just the sense of a team, but of a family.
As a club team at the College of Charleston, Charleston Crew receives very little financial support from the College. Most of our expenditures go towards: -Equipment repairs -Regatta entry fees -Regatta transportation -Average 8 rower racing boat cost: $30,000 None of the accomplishments made by CofC Crew would be possible without our supporters and donors' contributions. THANK YOU!
