Help Taylor!

This page was started to help my sister make her second trip to Miami Children's Hospital to see doctors that can help her with her Epilepsy. Taylor is 18 years old. She has been diagnosed epileptic for a few years now, and it has been something that she struggles with daily. Her seizures don't involve rapid muscle contractions (causing the body to shake), but are instead the Partial Complex type where they start in one side of her brain, she "blanks out", and appears to be aware, but she isn't. She's missed out on having a job and driving because of her diagnosis. Doctors have tried nearly everything to help her, from FDA approved medications to one that was still in the study stages. Nothing has helped, and her doctor here in town referred Taylor to Miami Children's Hospital for further tests and evaluation in March 2013 to determine whether or not she is a surgical candidate. While there the doctors were able to isolate the area of Taylor's brain where the seizures seem to be originating. The area is in her front left temporal lobe. The doctors in Miami have suggested we proceed to surgery but with the complexity of the area involved our local neurologist agreed to send us back to Miami Children's Hospital for a second round of extensive testing. Unfortunately, the cost of this trip will be very expensive. My mom will be accompanying my sister to Miami on February 7,2014, and will be there two to three weeks. We are very grateful to the SGA students and several parents of Gulf Breeze High school, who have rallied behind her and helped set up fundraisers and other things to help with her trip. I'm starting this page in hopes that I would be able to raise enough money for my mom and sister to offset the medical and travel expenses. Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
