Celebrating our History - Vimy 2017

The year 2017 marks an important year for Canadians. Part of the significance is the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. In April 2017, the 2512 King's Own Calgary Regiment Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps will be participating in the 100th Anniversary Official Commemoration Ceremonies in Vimy. These young men and women will walk the Ridge, the tunnels and the trenches where tens of thousands of Canadian Soldiers fought in the ultimate message of bravery and sacrifice. These Cadets and Officers will be part of the largest Canadian military presence in Vimy since WWII.
This truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these young men and women. We need your help to make their dream a reality.
The year 2017 will also mark the Corps' 40th Anniversary. For the past 40years, 2512 KOCR RCACC has been teaching young men and women from the ages of 12 to 18 leadership, citizenship, physical fitness, responsibility and accountability, along with a basic understanding of the Canadian Forces and reserves. The entire program for cadets has been designed to allow the youth of our communities to be taught the basic skills of any strong member of a community. The leadership skills learned in all areas of training provide cadets with excellent skills for their future careers. Cadets develop self-confidence and a sense of pride for their country.
There is no cost for Cadets to join and stay with the Cadet Program. It is our belief to have this world-renowned program available to all youth, regardless of their financial situation.
The 2512 KOCR RCACC is asking for your help so they can acheive their goal of fundraising the entire cost of the trip to Vimy. We would like to make this once in a lifetime opportunity available to all those in our Cadet program, again, regardless of their financial situation.
Your support will help ensure these youth have a tremendous experience, create life-changing memories and learn first-hand about an important part of Canada's history.
