Future Food: Teaching kids to grow it.

This campaign will fund operating expenses for developing and implementing a summer gardening curriculum, infrastructure, and seed saving program for children at the North Star Montessori School in Columbus, Indiana. Funds will be used to construct a horticultural space that meshes with and improves the outdoor, urban playground. Funds will also be used for hosting visiting artist Darrick Byers to teach about food production, history of food, cultivation methods, and the importance of heirloom varieties as well as scientific exploration. We will also design an arts-integrated, project-based curriculum that will be publicly available. Finally, funds will begin to support implementing similar programming in area schools.
