Blake's Road to Recovery

Blake Heath was a healthy 4 year old boy getting ready to start big school, playing with trucks and mud. On Thursday the 31st of March 2016 Blake became really unwell with puzzling symptoms and was air lifted to Sydney Childrens Hospital where he was placed in ICU for 8 days, during this time Blake under went numerous testing and was eventually diagnosed  with a common virus called Entrovirus for most people this would present as a common cold but this was not the case for Blake. The virus had attacked  Blake's respiratory system and spinal cord. The damage to his respiratory system caused serious problems with his lungs and bolus function (swallowing) leaving him unable to eat or drink and needing assistance with his breathing, the virus also damaged nerve's in Blake's spinal cord and left him unable to move or support his own body weight.

Blake has been at Sydney Children's hospital for 6 weeks as of the 13/05/2016  and has made great improvments with swallowing and movement and he will continue to stay at the hospital doing intensive rehab.  Though Blake is progressing extremely well with his rehab he will be returning home in a wheelchair 
so as a family we have come together to help raise funds for the medical equipment Blake will need (wheelchair, shower chair etc), modifications that will need to be made to the family home and to try and help with travel expenses as when Blake is released from hospital he will have to return periodically.

But our main goal is to raise enough money to replace the bathroom as Blake will not be able to return to the family home until this is completed due to safety issues. We are hoping that with the help of our great communities, family & friends we are able to help Blake and his family by raising around $15000 to go towards the cost of replacing the existing bathroom.
