On September 1st of 2008, we arrived in Xi'an, China for the first time. We began our studies at the Xi'an International Studies University, and were promptly asked to teach a weekly English course for a class of 6 to 11 year old Chinese children. After our semester of classes finished we returned to our own Humboldt State University.
We have both since graduated with degrees in International Studies (concentrating in Chinese Studies). We are dreaming of returning to China in August of 2013, just in time for the local schools to start their new school year, so that we can teach English.
The two of us are each working part-time jobs (and looking for additional work) to save every penny (literally, we have a box of change). Sadly, our own hard work is simply not enough and we are turning our troubles to the public in the hopes of any-size donations. After our VISAs, passports, and travel supplies, the only thing between us and our dream is the lump sum of our plane tickets. Any donations made WILL go DIRECTLY toward funding our plane tickets.
